How do I leave comments on a VoiceThread?

You must have a VoiceThread account in order to comment on a VoiceThread. The registration process is quick and easy! Just go to our registration page to get started.

To leave a comment on a VoiceThread, you have several options:

Audio from a Microphone

While viewing a VoiceThread, click on the button labeled Comment and then the button labeled Record.

An Adobe Flash Player Settings menu requesting access to use your microphone may open. If so, click allow to begin commenting.

When you've finished your comment, click the button labeled stop recording. VoiceThread will then play the comment back, and you can to decide if you want to keep it or record another. Click save to keep your comment or cancel to delete it. When you click save, the comment will be saved under your Identity image next to the VoiceThread slide.

Text from a Keyboard

While viewing a VoiceThread, click on the button labeled Comment and then the button labeled Type.

A white comment bubble will appear over your Identity image at the bottom of the VoiceThread. This is where you enter your text. Click save to keep your comment or cancel to delete it. When you click save,the comment will be saved under your Identity next to the VoiceThread slide.

Video from a Webcam

While viewing a VoiceThread, click on the button labeled Comment and then the button that looks like a webcam.

An Adobe Flash Player Settings menu requesting access to use your microphone may open. Click Allow to begin commenting.

The video you are recording will appear in a white bubble on the side of the VoiceThread slide. When you're done recording your video comment, click the button labeled stop recording. VoiceThread will then play the comment back, and you can decide if you want to keep it or record another. Click save to keep your comment or cancel to delete it. When you click save, the comment will be saved under your Identity next to the VoiceThread slide.

Audio from a pre-recorded Audio File

This feature is only available to upgraded accounts. While viewing a VoiceThread, click on the button labeled Comment and then the upward-pointing arrow.

This will open a browse dialog for you to select an MP3 or WAV file to upload as an audio comment. A progress bar will appear as the file uploads. You can click cancel to abort the upload.

Audio from a Telephone

While viewing a VoiceThread, click on the button labeled Comment and then the button to the left that looks like a telephone.

If your account has available phone-commenting minutes, a dialog will appear so you can type the phone number for VoiceThread to call (currently U.S. and Canadian phone numbers only). When the number is correctly entered, VoiceThread will call that phone and prompt you to leave a comment or multiple comments on different slides.
